Theatre in Education

The last stage of schooling, at the threshold of a changing academic environment and preparing for a challenging adulthood.

Aware of the much needed skill and knowledge to face and excel in the world outside, Theatre - in - Education aims for holistic development of each student.

Known for its excellence in academic achievement, Carmel School aspires to develop imaginative and multisensory learning through drama. Theatre-in-Education develops skills such as creativity, enquiring, empathy, co-operation, leadership and negotiation.

The emphasis now however is for English Language development, specifically developing listening, speaking, reading and writing the 'macro-skills', grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation , the micro skills through role play, theatre games, drama and play production.

Theatre - Independence week activities

It is imperative to teach our children the spirit of patriotism to develop a thoughtful,responsible and conscious citizen. High school students performed skits, mime , tableau and speeches to celebrate the independence month Of August.

Students were given themes such as :

  • Events that led to freedom
  • Biography of unsung freedom fighters
  • Challenges of present day India
  • They gained the skills of team work, enquiry, And above the sacrifices that gained our freedom and the value of it!

Visit to Vishweshwaraiah Institution of Science was a memorable experience for students as it dealt with the new innovations of science enlightening them into new fields of prosthetics and innovating new designs with less cost and improvisation of a better world in a compact space to the betterment of man.

Road Safety
Students of high school performed a street play on traffic awareness inside the BDA complex at Banashankari 2 nd stage on Saturday, 29th of July 2017.The ACP of traffic south division Sri Thimaiah and other officers applauded the performance and encouraged students to continue promoting awareness and follow traffic rules.

'Road Safety'

Road Safety
"Look left, look right before you cross" is the only knowledge students have about rules and regulations of Road Safety. To enlighten them with mandatory etiquettes of commuting, Carmel School management arranged a programme on 'Road Safety' for high school students on Friday, 8th July 2016 in the school premises. The programme was conducted by Sri S. Satyapal, Joint Chief Traffic Warden of Bangalore City. A power point presentation on the causes and cautions which can prevent accidents and mishaps was shown to alert the students.

The horrific slides which portrayed the conditions of people who broke the law caused every student to realize the disastrous effects of such temerities. The grand finale of the programme was the enlightening speech by the Asst. Commissioner of Traffic South, Sri. Mariappa. The impact of this programme made the students own that 'Danger Lurks' in every nook and corner, you are responsible for your life and the lives of others.

Spandana and School Day of Carmel are splendid events celebrated with pomp and grandeur to encourage students of high school to participate in various co-curricular activities. Students are encouraged to exhibit their talents during the special morning assembly too.

The class magazine is another such venture which inculcates team-spirit and editorial skills in the students. It is the bench-mark of the class' information-gathering compositing and judgemental flair. It gives each section an opportunity to work independently as a unit. The lifeskill classes form the ethical base encouraging the development of moral, social and emotional values. An attempt at imparting societal awareness. Expectations and self-esteem is the purpose.

Talents Day
Talents Day brings healthy competition to forefront with talented students vying for laurels in debate , elocution, singing, dance, Sanskrit shloka, quiz, mad ads, skit, group discussion et al. The winners enjoy their moment of glory and the others rejoice for having been in the spotlight.

The School Annual Day is a glamorous family occasion with parents, staff, students, management personnel and support staff rubbing shoulders unaffected by cadre or position. Under the Carmel umbrella they stand united as a force unshadowed by any controversy, complaint or camouflage. The mantra of the moment is enjoyment, excitement and attachment. Camaraderie and entertainment relax young minds who return with renewed vigour to their academic pursuits.
